Dr Lucy Grimshaw

Assistant Professor

Department: Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing

Lucy Grimshaw joined the Department in 2013 and teaches on BA (Hons) Childhood and Early Years Studies, MA Childhood and Early Years Studies and BSc (Hons) Social Work.

Lucy is external examiner for the Unviersity of the Highlands and Islands, a Governor for a local primary school and a member of a local community group whcih focuses on bringing people together by celebrating local heritage and histories.  

Lucy is committed to improving education spaces and providing opportunities for groups which are often marginalised and discriminated against. She leads training and research projects in the area of gender-based violence and meeting the needs of pregnant students and  students with children. Her recent research focuses on reclaiming and celebrating working class histories in primary schools.  

Lucy Grimshaw

Lucy is a social scientist working within the fields of urban studies and social policy. Lucy‘s research interests include pedagogical practice and inequalities; community work and participation; equality and gender. Lucy has undertaken several evaluation research projects for public and third sector organisations. Lucy has a particular interest in feminist and participatory research.
